Strap-based lens cap holder gets funding

There probably isn't a photographer out there who hasn't lost a lens cap, or at least spent too long trying to remember where they placed one.

Which is why it's surprising that this strap-based lens cap holder wasn't invented sooner… and why we think it could be a huge success.

Invented by Mark Stevenson from Chicago, and currently being funded on Kickstarter, the device attaches to your camera strap and features a circular recess to clip your lens cap into.

SpiderPro Pad: A Holster System for Pros

There are times when pro photographers need to carry more cameras than they have hands free - and for just such an occasion Spider Holster have released the SpiderPro Pad.

The holster-style carrying system is said to eliminate the back, shoulder and neck strain of carrying cameras and can comfortably hold two pro-level DSLR cameras.

Makers say that the modular system offers cross-platform compatibility and can fit to SpiderPro Belts as well as third-party photography belts.

Jo Totes: Camera Bags Designed For Women

Many female photographers complain that photography accessories are all too often geared towards men, and if you walk into any camera shop and look at things like bags, we think you will agree.

But all that could be about to change as more female-centric designers are seeing their products become a hit online… like these "camera bags for ladies".

Jo Totes bags have all the protection and padding you would expect from a normal camera-bag, but are wrapped up in an outer which is more akin to a vintage designer handbag.

Lexar 128GB SDXC finally shipping - and cheaper than expected

Another update now. Back in January we were pretty excited to tell you that Lexar were launching an industry first 128GB Class 10 SDXC card with a 133x speed.

Well, while it's taken longer than we would have liked, the card - along with an equally speedy 65GB option - has finally started shipping.

And it looks like it could have been worth the wait, because the cards are considerably cheaper than had been expected.

The gloves are off for wildlife photographers

For wildlife photographers (or stalkers) it's important not to be seen, and to accomplish this you need to cover up things which make you stand out, whether that's your camera, body or hands.

And that last one can be tricky, because most camouflage gloves are not designed with fiddly actions like spinning dials and pressing buttons in mind.

Luckily a firm called 'Stealth Gear' have stepped in with their latest item, camouflage gloves made especially for photographers which are said to offer a perfect balance between warmth and camera control and sell for £39.95.

Lensbaby Sweet 35: Will it hit your sweet spot?

We love the Lensbaby range of products for providing a cost-effective way of instantly boosting our creativity and making photography fun.

Sure they are lo-fi optics, but the way the gizmos let you create a focus sweet spot and add artistic blurring, it's fantastic… until you change the aperture.

Until recently this meant fiddling about and replacing magnetic rings of varying diameter, and to be honest it spoiled the fun that was using Lensbaby products.

Canon Delay Release Of New Pro Lenses

canon300mm.jpg

If you were hoping Santa might have been bringing you one of Canon's new professional 300mm or 400mm lenses on Christmas morning, you're likely to be disappointed.

That's because Canon have now announced they will not be able to meet the original December launch date.

While the F 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM and EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM were due to have been released in December, followed by the EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM in January, none will now be available until March 2011.

A statement from Canon said: "Canon has now delayed the introduction of these lenses due to some adjustments in the manufacturing process. These lenses are now due to be released in March 2011.

"Canon would like to apologise to any customers who will be inconvenienced by these delays."
