Apple launch Mac App Store - with some photo bargains

A couple of weeks ago we showed you our favourite iPhone photography apps, well Apple have just rolled out their Mac App Store and there's a few more things we'd like to bring to your attention.

Namely the fact that there are some impressive savings to be had for those willing to forgo a bit of unnecessary packaging and download their photo software.

First off there is iPhoto '11 (the same bit of software we told you about here). If this is the only part of the iLife package you're after, you no longer need to shell out £45 for the privilege. It's only £8.99 on the new store.

But it gets better, while the

£173 price-tag

has probably put many Mac users off migrating from iPhoto to Apple's higher-end photo management and retouching tool Aperture, this could soon be changing.

That's because in the Mac App Store, Aperture 3 costs just £44.99 to buy… meaning anyone paying for a boxed version is forking out an extra £128 and a penny for that little white box and a DVD.

To access the Apple Mac Store you will need a Mac computer running the latest version (10.6.6) of their Snow Leopard operating system.

In upcoming weeks we will be taking a look at some of the other photo-centric software being added to the Mac App Store, if you have an opinion on any of the programs, or there's something you think we should be looking at, be sure to let us know in the comments.
