Eye Scope zoom lens released for iPhone

Let's get this straight, we are not suggesting for a minute that this zoom lens will convert your iPhone into a DSLR-beater, not by a long way.

That said, the Eye Scope opens up a whole range of photographic possibilities for your mobile phone -- besides which it looks like a bit of fun.

The 8x zoom screw-fit lens attaches to a case, which in turn fits around your iPhone and certainly gives you a better telephoto option than the standard digital zoom.

This tiny 'DSLR' won't replace your Canon 5D

We love our DSLR, but sometimes it feels like too much to carry around with us all day every day. So when we heard a pocket-sized DSLR had gone on sale we were pretty impressed.

However, our enthusiasm was short-lived when we realised the diminutive Chobio CamOne wasn't exactly going to replace our Canon 5D… but it's still worth a more detailed look.

The keyring-sized little plastic shooter measures 2.5cm x 2.5cm x 2.6cm and weights just 12g. It takes images at a resolution of 1600x1200 pixels and video at 640x480.

Apple launch Mac App Store - with some photo bargains

A couple of weeks ago we showed you our favourite iPhone photography apps, well Apple have just rolled out their Mac App Store and there's a few more things we'd like to bring to your attention.

Namely the fact that there are some impressive savings to be had for those willing to forgo a bit of unnecessary packaging and download their photo software.

First off there is iPhoto '11 (the same bit of software we told you about here). If this is the only part of the iLife package you're after, you no longer need to shell out £45 for the privilege. It's only £8.99 on the new store.

Top 10 Cool iPhone Photography Apps

If you're a self-confessed photo geek who just so happened to received a shiny new Apple iPhone 4 for Christmas this is for you. Because here are out Top 10 iPhone Photography Apps.

Sure, you're never going to pack your iPhone over your D700 for a planned photo-shoot, but you will always have it in your pocket and the iPhone 4 now takes pretty decent photos, so why not embrace that little camera.

And what better way to show it a bit of love than downloading a couple of photography apps and doing something cool with those pictures.

So with no further ado, here are our pick of the best iPhone photography apps… unfortunately not all of them are free. Sorry about that.

DIY Sound-Sensitive High-Speed Photography Rig

As anyone who's ever tried their camera-holding hand at high-speed photography will know, capturing a split-second moment can take hours of preparation.

And unless you want to spend days constantly recreating your set-up as you snap in the hope of catching the ideal moment, setting up a suitable rig can also cost a fortune.

But it doesn't have to. Here is a video guide of how to build your own high-speed audio camera trigger -- though you will need considerably better electronics skills than us.

Eye-Fi View: View And Share Your Images Anywhere

Anyone who has used a wireless memory card will know how useful they can be for transferring images to your computer when you haven't got a card reader handy, or even uploading them directly to services like Flickr.

But now makers Eye-Fi have have launched Eye-Fi View -- an online cloud-based system allowing users of their X2 cards to view and share images wherever they are, using and web connected device.

Apple iPhoto '11 - What's New And What's Hot

Apple have recently released the '11 version of their iLife package, complete with the latest version of their photo editing and organisation software iPhoto '11. And while no-one will be ditching Photoshop CS5 for it anytime soon, there's plenty of new features which will be of interest to those who find it installed on their shiny new Mac or opt for the £45 upgrade.

But first of all, let's take a quick look at the software, which has become the default go-to photo editing application for for OSX users since it was  introduced in 2002 - and bundled with every new Mac.

Autostitch 3 released for Apple mobile devices

Cloudburst have released version 3 of their already popular panormaic photo technology for the iPhone, iPod Touch and the iPad.

Autostitch is easy to use as it is fully automated. Gone are the days of spending a couple of hours in Photoshop working your way through have a dozen inconsistently taken photos. Although this kind of software has been around for many years now, Autostitch does make it really fun to use on Apple's mobile devices.

FrameWizard Preview

I recently received an email with details on a new digital photo frame called the FrameWizard that transforms your still 2D photos into a kind of pseudo 3D, with various moving elements on within the frame. I have yet to get my hands on one to offer a proper review but I thought it was such a unique variation of a photo frame that I thought I'd do a little preview.

If Only We Had Feel-A-Vision

I know sounds silly but this is one of those products you have to feel to believe! When I was first approached by Heat by Design I said nah, this can't work. I very RARELY ask for products to test out since I know it is costly for the manufacturer and I typically do not write reviews - but I had to see this to believe it! So, here is what I think.

It is AWESOME!

Sony Cybershot C905a - Camera or Phone?

As a photographer, images are important. But carrying a camera with me everywhere I go can be a daunting task - but without my trusty camera I find myself missing some great moments! I have my trusty Blackberry of course, but have to admit the image quality has a lot to be desired (granted my standards may be higher than the average user!).

I recently had the opportunity to check out the Sony Ericsson C905a Cyber-Shot Camera, which happens to also be a phone that works on the AT&T Network. There are a lot of amazing features in this phone, but I am going to focus on the photo portion of it since that is what we tested it for!

Cell Phone Photos Made Easy By Ontela!

This is by far one of the most exciting things we have had cross our desks here at Cool Photo Ideas! When Rob from Ontela first reached out to me several months ago, I have to be honest I was confused as to what they did and put them off to the side. That was a mistake! He contacted me a second time a few weeks back telling me they reached a deal with Verizon Wireless - and that had my interest since I am a Verizon kind of girl - so he kindly sent me a phone to test - yes, a phone! The magic of Ontela is that they allow you to shoot images with your phone and easily get those images off your phone - and I mean easy!
