If you were hoping Santa might have been bringing you one of Canon's new professional 300mm or 400mm lenses on Christmas morning, you're likely to be disappointed.

That's because Canon have now announced they will not be able to meet the original December launch date.

While the F 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM and EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM were due to have been released in December, followed by the EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM in January, none will now be available until March 2011.

A statement from Canon said: "Canon has now delayed the introduction of these lenses due to some adjustments in the manufacturing process. These lenses are now due to be released in March 2011.

"Canon would like to apologise to any customers who will be inconvenienced by these delays."
